XTRABYTES was born from the Bitmox Scam. In early 2017, community members came together to salvage what they could after the scam was exposed. While developers made improvements to the coin’s existing code, the XTRABYTES community experienced slow and steady growth. Behind the scenes, developers were working furiously to construct XTRABYTES’ truly disruptive Zoltchain. By fall, the crypto community had finally begun to take notice. And XTRABYTES’ social media accounts exploded with new followers. The community now boasts 23 active Facebook groups, 4300+ Discord members, 3000 Telegram members and 5000+ Reddit subscribers.

    Managing An Active Community

Ostensibly a community coin, the team has remained committed to keeping its community strong and open to new members. As a result, the number of XTRABYTES members has risen dramatically. In August, the XTRABYTES subreddit retained less than 300 subscribers. It currently has over 5,000 subscribers. Community members have been recruited to moderate the forum, answer new user’s questions, and guide them in the right direction. Similar changes have occurred on all XBY platforms in recent months. Community enthusiasm remains palpable, and community members are eager to step up and take on a larger role within the XTRABYTES team.

The XTRABYTES team initially employed Slack to serve as its main communication channel – for both developers and community members. As the community grew however, Slack’s limitations were reached and the team made the smart decision to move to Discord. The switch enables the XTRABYTES team to create a more positive environment for community members. It also provides room for future growth. Team members have created Discord channels to gather community input, rally for community-based voting, and create awareness drives. Indeed, Discord has greatly improved community cohesiveness, providing XTRABYTES’ 4500 community members with the opportunity to directly interact with team members and fellow enthusiasts.

Because XTRABYTES has been envisioned as a global community, it has worked tirelessly to support non-English speaking members as well. This is partly achieved by using separate language channels within Discord. However, 21 of the 23 XTRABYTES-related Facebook pages are also non-English speaking. And they are constantly seeking translators to spread the word and grow the community.

Finally, the XTRABYTES team has created a special Discord channel dedicated to technology testing. Community members have had the opportunity to participate in three testnet runs so far. The last testnet included two coordinated stress tests requiring member participation from around the world. Those who participated were invited to join in an impromptu VOIP Q&A’s from one of the main developers. It’s moments like these that underscore why being an active XTRABYTES community member really pays off.

What are the best steps to becoming an XTRABYTES community member?

The more informed you are the better community member you can be. Whichever community platform you join there will be a FAQ that should be your first place to go. It will have all the relevant information needed to get you up to speed. As a member, you can join in conversations about the coin and ask any follow up questions you might have. In due time, you may even consider yourself an XTRABYTES expert with the capability to help newcomers with their questions. The team is always looking for more community members to step up and join in an official capacity. If you have skills that you think XTRABYTES could benefit from fill out join link
