    This testnet use a standalone wallet that will be connected to the testnet only, not the live wallet. Any coins in the wallets are therefore purely for testing purposes and not exchangeable for other goals. Please use the correct wallet and make sure you don’t try to transfer coins between the test client and the live client.

    This guide is specifically for Windows users.

    Setup
    Step 1: Download XCITE client for your operating system:
    Windows - Mac - Linux

    Run the wallet and wait for 20 seconds to create the data directory, then close the program before proceeding.

    Step 2: Delete old testnet data
    If you did not participate in the previous testnet, skip to step 3.
    - Hold down the windows button and press R
    - In the box, write %appdata%
    - Go to the Roaming folder
    - Go to the xcite folder
    - Delete all content in this folder, leave the folder here

    Step 3: Make sure your public key is valid
    You can only participate if your public key has been compiled into the wallet. So please check whether your public key is in the list of compiled keys in order to proceed. If your key is not on this list, please contact #testnet (Discord) for a new set of keys. You can find a link to our discord here.

    Step 4: Make file extensions visible in windows
    We need to make sure you can see file extensions in windows. If this is already enabled on your system, skip to step 5.
    - Open a random windows folder
    - Press View in the top menu
    - In the View menu on the right side, make sure "Show file extensions" is checked.

    file extension.jpg

    Step 5: Create config file
    Go to your xcite folder. Explained in detail in Step 2. (“X:/Users/Username/AppData/Roaming/xcite” with X being your system hard-drive and replacing Username with your windows username)

    If there are files in the folder, delete them.

    - Create a new text file with notepad in this directory. Open the txt file.
    In the txt file, write this:
    posignkey=your_posign_private_key

    your_posign_private_key = the private key you received in the testnet email.
    There should be nothing else in this text file, only posignkey=x. Now save and exit.

    - Rename the txt file to xcite.conf. Make sure the file is not called “xcite.conf.txt”
    This is why we needed to show file extensions in Step 4.
    - Once you have made xcite.conf, start the wallet.

    Step 6: Copy importable key from debug.log
    In the xcite folder, a file named debug.log will be created once you start the wallet in step 5.
    - Open this file with notepad.
    - Press ctrl+f and search for 'importable'
    - Copy this key. There might be a few characters added to the end of this key that is not needed. If 'init', 'added', 'upnp', 'net' or 'thread' show up at the end of this key, remove that part.

    screen2.jpg

    Step 7: Importing the importable key
    Go to your wallet. In the top menu, press help --> debug. Go to Console.
    In the console, write importprivkey "key_from_step_6" - without the quotation marks.

    You are now all set up and you will be selected for mining at random.

    Step 8: Adding your receive address to the spam list
    The last thing we need to do is add your receive address to the list so other can send you coins and build transaction load on the network.
    - Open your wallet
    - Go to Receive
    - Right click the address and select 'Copy Address'
    - Add the address to this form: https://goo.gl/forms/Zn311SnWGwwz0buw2

    The address list will be made public once we have enough people set up, and a decent amount of test coins has been created.

    Notes
    If your wallet is not syncing, try adding some nodes manually one by one, using the debug console within the wallet. This can be found in the menu Help --> Debug Window --> Console.

    Questions
    Testnet related questions go in the #testnet channel on Discord. If you have more questions about XTRABYTES or cryptocurrency in general we would like to direct you to our community forum or discord channel. A lot of information is available in the FAQs, but if anything is unclear or you require help with – feel free to ask away!

    Bugs
    If you happen to come across any bugs, please let the team know by submitting a form through https://bugreport.xtrabytes.global/ and giving a detailed walkthrough of the issue. Be specific and detailed where necessary, but try to keep it short. Screenshots and logs can be uploaded after making the initial report.

    X-CITE
    Our team has been hard at work on X-CITE. Yes, that’s right, X-CITE - the decentralized XTRABYTES platform that will host our exchange, our multifaceted modules and multiple other functionalities. You can get an early taste of our first prototype by downloading test versions for Windows and for Android

    In the next few weeks we will be making massive improvements to the functionalities of the client, so stay tuned throughout the process! The client will be updated occasionally, so you will need to re-download the latest version.

    The X-CITE client will not be connected to any blockchain just yet – this is just a prototype to give you a hint of what is to come and show there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes. The X-CHAT module has its first integrated prototype in the client and should be functional, do give it a try!

    The client interface starts off with a login screen. You don’t need to enter anything and can just click “login” and “verify” – this brings you to the main screen where you’ll be able to test X-CHAT.

    Hi,
    I am new to this mining and have gotten to step 5 of TESTNET #3
    Step 5: Adding address
    As a final step we would like everybody to write down your receiving XCITE address in this Form. We will use these to send you the XBY for the tests

    Question on step 5
    In XTRABYES Console, what is the command to add the recieving XCITE address in this form
    is the recieving XCITE address my private key or the public key sent by email to me.

    You can find your receiving address by doing this:
    Open your testnet wallet
    Go to the Receive menu
    Right click your address and press Copy address. This is your receiving address.

    For those still having issues, I had to add the following to the xcite.conf file directly after my private key and restart the client, manually adding via the debug console did not work for me. Plus this will allow changes to stay through restarts of xcite.

    addnode=47.195.232.223
    addnode=50.101.102.199
    addnode=69.174.161.84

    This step seems to be the biggest issue :

    - Copy this key. There might be a few characters added to the end of this key that is not needed. If "init", "added" or "upnp" show up at the end of the key, exclude that part.

    People are copying extra characters. IF anything looks like a word on the end like 'net, thread, ...' do not copy that.. Only the key.
