    Hi all,

Sometimes a wallet can give the impression it's not syncing or it crashed. The best way to know what is going on is using a tool like BareTail...
This tutorial will explain step by step how to use this tool in a good way.

    1. Download BareTail for windows on : https://www.baremetalsoft.com/baretailpro/download.php?p=a
    2. Open the program
    3. Click the "Open"-icon on top

    4. browse to the %appdata% > xtrabytesfolder (you can do this by just typing %appdata% in the bar and you should arrive in the DRIVELETTER:\Users\USERNAME\Appdata\Roaming" folder, select the xtrabytes folder)
    5. Select the debug.log file

    6. Click "Open"

    7. Now you should see the live logging in the debug.log file.

This log shows you what is going on with the wallet. This info could be useful if something is wrong.

    Enjoy!

This can also be done from inside the wallet app itself (at least on the Mac version).

Open the "Help" menu, click "Debug window", then click "Open" under the Debug log file text.

That's true, thanks. I thought my wallet had hung while importing the bootstrap file. Next time I'll give this method a try. :)

@Jamo This is one of the reasons why @webwakko wrote the tutorial

Just a note for Mac users. This can be done by opening the debug.log file using the console app. Right click -> open with -> Console.app

additional note on this one: opening the file only shows the current info in it.. the baretail software keeps a live monitoring.. don't know what soft can be used on mac for live monitoring...

Console shows the live updating file. At least it does on the latest OSX.
